Meeting Mayor of Iwanuma, Sendai

Rabbi Edery continues to bring relief to the Northern cities of Japan. Tsuneaki Iguchi san, the mayor of Iwanuma city, where Sendai Airport is located, invited Rabbi Edery and Muto san for a meeting at his office. He was very moved by the tireless efforts of the the Rabbi and his volunteers and discussed more ways to bring support to the refugees.
He expressed his great appreciation for all the relief Chabad of Japan has brought until now.

Rabbi Edery is back from the US, to promote the first and only premium kosher sake made in Japan. The events were held in Beverly Hills and Manhattan and were a great success. Restauranteurs, chefs, kosher food distributors, and Chabad of Japan supporters all participated and greatly enjoyed the atmosphere, food and of course Sake.  The events were organized to salute the work and activities of Chabad of Japan. Many of the Japanese companies that came were especially moved to see the scope of the relief efforts that Rabbi Edery and Muto san organized with Chabad Japan volunteers and promised to help. Muto san accompanied Rabbi Edery on his trip.Special thank you to Rabbi Meir Abitan for organizing the event in LA, and Mr. Jack Khorsandi and his family for hosting this unique event.Great appreciation to Deli Kasba, and its owner Rabbi David Dery who made such a successful event a true kiddush Hashem.

Piano for Tohoku

Piano for Tohoku

On the day of the BBQ that Chabad of Japan organized in Sendai for the refugees, a young girl came to Rabbi Edery with a request. Her piano got swept away during the Tsunami and she very much misses playing music. By Divine Providence, on that very same day, Rabbi Edery got a call from a lady in Tokyo saying she has a new piano that she is not using and would he take it to Tohoku for the refugees. Rabbi Edery organized the pickup and delivering the piano to this girl who was thrilled at the speed and efficiency of the Rabbi. She asked to take a picture near the piano with her playing and Rabbi Edery there. She lost a lot during the Tsunami but got back much of her happiness through the music she can now play. She promised to share the piano with all the other children in her area that also lost their homes.
Great appreciation to Riya for her generous donation.
Special thanks to Dale Toriumi manager of National Azabu who coordinated between Riya and Rabbi Edery.

Present from G-d, Piano for Tohoku
Present from G-d, Piano for Tohoku; Letter from Girl
Dear Binyomin,
Thank you very much for giving me a superb piano. I’m very happy with it. I played right after I got it, and enjoyed it very much. I had never thought that I could play the piano in the temporary housing unit where we are housed. It’s such a good piano that I really enjoyed playing. Today I have to keep the volume lower, but I hope I can someday play with the volume up again, and play more often when we move into a new house.

I really appreciate the help of people from all over the world. Thank you very much!

Huge BBQ in Sendai

Huge BBQ in Sendai

On May 22, 2011 Chabad of Japan organized a huge event, which brought much joy and hope to the refugees of Sendai. There was a big BBQ, magicians from Osaka, entertainment and dance. The famous sake company that recently received Rabbi’s Edery kosher seal, Dassai Sake donated many cases of sake for the event. The head manager, Sakurai san, came to see for himself the relief efforts of Rabbi Edery, Muto san and Chabad House crew. There were approximately 1,000 participants, many who only recently were placed in government temporary housing, expressed their gratitude to the Rabbi for not forgetting them and continuously thinking of ways to make them happy.
Special thanks to Shmulik, from Shanit Corp. who donated many cases of clothes for the refugees and brought his staff who prepared special entertainment.
Big Thank You to Liane and Mirai Wakabayashi who made the long trip to Sendai with arts and crafts supplies and prepared fantastic art projects with the children at the event.

Chabad of Asia Annual Conference for support of Japanese people

Chabad of Asia Annual Conference for support of Japanese people

Right after Shabbat Chabad of Japan organized a Banquet in Hotel Shinjuku Hilton in honor of the Rabbis who came from all over Asia who came to support the people of Japan. The Rabbis led a special prayer with all the participants. The head Rabbi of India, Rabbi Bezalel Kupchick gave the keynote address and blessed the Japanese nation that they will recover and prosper even more than before. Rabbi Zohar David, Chabad emissary to Chabad of Rishikesh spoke and sang a beautiful song describing the future redemption, that he composed. Mr. David Cohen representative of the Jewish community spoke and thanked Rabbi Edery for his blessed work. A video was shown of the outreach work organized by these Rabbis in each respective Chabad House. It was very moving to see the kindness and unconditional love each of them show every person who comes. Mr. Muto showed pictures and video of the Rabbis helping in the shelters of Fukshima, and of the relief efforts of Chabad of Japan. It was a very  moving and uplifting event. The participants promised to continue to support this important work.

We would like to give special thank to Andrew Sheer for his help with the relief efforts.
