Piano for Tohoku

Piano for Tohoku

On the day of the BBQ that Chabad of Japan organized in Sendai for the refugees, a young girl came to Rabbi Edery with a request. Her piano got swept away during the Tsunami and she very much misses playing music. By Divine Providence, on that very same day, Rabbi Edery got a call from a lady in Tokyo saying she has a new piano that she is not using and would he take it to Tohoku for the refugees. Rabbi Edery organized the pickup and delivering the piano to this girl who was thrilled at the speed and efficiency of the Rabbi. She asked to take a picture near the piano with her playing and Rabbi Edery there. She lost a lot during the Tsunami but got back much of her happiness through the music she can now play. She promised to share the piano with all the other children in her area that also lost their homes.
Great appreciation to Riya for her generous donation.
Special thanks to Dale Toriumi manager of National Azabu who coordinated between Riya and Rabbi Edery.

Present from G-d, Piano for Tohoku; Letter from Girl
Dear Binyomin,
Thank you very much for giving me a superb piano. I’m very happy with it. I played right after I got it, and enjoyed it very much. I had never thought that I could play the piano in the temporary housing unit where we are housed. It’s such a good piano that I really enjoyed playing. Today I have to keep the volume lower, but I hope I can someday play with the volume up again, and play more often when we move into a new house.

I really appreciate the help of people from all over the world. Thank you very much!
