Along with the Torah scroll, we will print the Tanya.
What is the Tanya?
The giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai was the pinnacle of Divine revelation to the world. Since that moment, the revelation of the Torah has only increased, and each generation has received a new and unique revelation. Over 200 years ago, the Tanya, written by Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the founder of Chabad, constitutes a revelation of the inner dimensions of the Torah in a profound and unique manner. It is not merely a conceptual innovation, but a Divine revelation that brings the Torah to inner and emotional work in daily life.
The book opens up a way for every Jew to serve Hashem with an inner and deep connection, combining theory with practice. The Tanya does not just explain the laws of the Torah, but allows every person to connect to them personally, and to feel the presence of God in every detail of his life.
In Our Generation
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, King Moshiach, Moses of our generation, initiated the printing of the book to bring the inner Torah to every place in the world. The printing of the Tanya creates the possibility of expressing the revelation of the inner dimension of Torah not only in thought and speech, but also in action – and to bring about the revelation of G-d in every detail of creation, as preparation for the true and complete redemption.
The printing of the Tanya everywhere is a global mission that connects the Jewish people and the entire world to the Torah and the divine revelation of the giving of the Torah. With each printing, every connection to the Tanya, we bring the Torah and its profound meaning to every place, and advance the redemption by spreading the inner Torah everywhere in the world.
The Light In Tokyo
The Chanukah holiday symbolizes the victory of the few over the many, light over darkness, and spirit over matter. Exactly 26 years ago, on the same holiday of light, the first Chabad House in the capital of Japan, Tokyo, was inaugurated – a Jewish light point in the heart of one of the largest and most distant cities in the world. Like the oil that burned miraculously, so too the opening of the Chabad House in Tokyo was a triumph of the light of the soul over distance, exile, and spiritual darkness, bringing the light of Torah to a place that had never known it.
Precisely now, in the 26th year, at the time when the light of Chanukah calls upon us to increase the light in the world, a rare opportunity is given to take part in bringing the light of the inner Torah to Japan and the entire world. The rare printing in Tokyo is not merely a technical action — it is an act that tips the scales, an act of light that brings the complete redemption in actuality. Joining the campaign is an opportunity to be partners in the revelation of the Divine inner light that illuminates the world and brings closer the moment when all the inhabitants of the world will say, “The Lord, the G-d of Israel, is King.”
