During the Intermediate days of Sukkot, Rabbi Edery will be driving the Sukka Mobile all around with a Lulav and Etrog together with the ”Chabad House Crew”.

All are welcome any day during Sukkot to the Chabad House Sukka, to bless on the Lulav and have a hearty meal.

Make sure to bless on the lulav during one of the days of Sukkot. During Sukkot, one can bless anytime on the Lulav except for Shabbat and during daytime.

Why is the first haircut at three years of age?

It is an age-old custom to allow a boy’s hair to grow untouched until he’s three years old. On his third Jewish birthday, friends are invited to a haircutting ceremony-called an upsherin in Yiddish, and a chalakah by Sephardic Jews. The child’s peyot (biblically mandated side-locks) are left intact-the initiation into his first mitzvah.

From this point on, a child is taught to wear a kipah and tzitzit, and is slowly trained to recite blessings and the Shema. The world now begins to benefit from the Torah study and mitzvot of this young child.

The Torah compares man to a tree – “For man is like a tree of the field” (Deut. 20:19). A tree and a person both grow from a small seed, extend branches, reach maturity and bear fruit.
