Mikveh Onsen
Purity and Redemption in the Heart of Tokyo
Welcome to the Mikveh Onsen at Chabad Tokyo – a sacred place of spiritual elevation, purity, and preparation for the Redemption.
The mikveh is more than a ritual immersion; it is a profound journey into the soul, an act that prepares the world for the revelation of Messiah. In the words of the Lubavitcher Rebbe King Messiah, “every step toward purity hastens the Redemption.”
Here in Japan, a land of natural beauty and ancient bathing traditions, we’ve created a kosher mikveh inspired by the serenity of a traditional onsen. Surrounded by tranquility, our mikveh connects the ancient purity of Torah with the future vision of a perfected world — a world filled with divine light, peace, and clarity.
The Mikveh and the Redemption
According to Lubavitcher Rebbe King Messiah teachings, the mikveh is deeply connected to the days of Messiah. The Rebbe emphasized that just as immersion renews the individual, so too the world is being immersed in divine awareness as we approach the Redemption. The physical waters of the mikveh reflect the spiritual waters of knowledge that will soon fill the earth as the prophet says:
“For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of G-d as the waters cover the sea” (Yeshayahu 11:9).
Each immersion is an act of faith in that vision.
A Mikveh in Tokyo, A World of Redemption
The establishment of a mikveh in Tokyo is no small thing. It is a testimony to the Rebbe’s vision of bringing holiness to every corner of the globe. From Tokyo to Jerusalem, from immersion to illumination.
